A story of flavour and tradition

Our
History

Origins

From the heart of Serra do Marão

Tasca do Valado was born from a passion for traditional Portuguese cuisine and the desire to preserve the authentic flavours of Serra do Marão. Located in Mafómedes, in the heart of Baião, it is much more than a restaurant — it is a meeting point between history, territory and flavour.

Each dish that arrives at the table tells a story. Recipes passed down from generation to generation, carefully selected regional products, and the unique atmosphere of a green valley between mountains make Tasca do Valado a memorable experience.

Our roots

A Place
with Soul

Nestled in the slopes of Serra do Marão, Tasca do Valado was founded with the purpose of honouring the cuisine of Trás-os-Montes and Minho, rich in aromas, textures and tradition.

The name evokes the valley and the legendary crossing that marks the border between two worlds: Minho and Trás-os-Montes. A crossroads of cultures reflected on the plate.

Today, Tasca do Valado is a reference destination for those seeking authenticity — whether for a family lunch, a special celebration or a journey through Portuguese cuisine.

Territory and Identity

Serra do Marão —
our home

Serra do Marão is much more than the landscape that frames Tasca do Valado. It is the source of the products we use, the climate that shapes the flavours and the memory that guides each recipe.

The Romanesque Route, the Douro River, the terraced vineyards and granite villages make up the historical and natural context of a unique place in Portugal.

To be at Tasca do Valado is to be in the heart of Serra do Marão — with all that implies of singular and irreplaceable.

What drives us

Our values

Authenticity, produce and territory — the three pillars that guide every decision, from purchase to plate.

01 · Produce

We always prioritise local producers and seasonal ingredients. Each ingredient has a name, an origin and a story.

02 · Tradition

Recipes passed down from generation to generation, adapted with respect for tradition. The wood-fired oven is the heart of the house.

03 · Territory

Located in the heart of Serra do Marão, we are an integral part of the landscape, the community and the local culture.
